How SplitCam collects and uses information on this website and inside the SplitCam software, plus the third-party services involved.
This privacy statement describes how we collect and use the personal information you provide on our website and with SplitCam software. It also describes third-party solutions we use on our website and with SplitCam software that can collect and use the personal information.
We gather information like IP addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp and click-stream data by using Google Analytics — to use our site and software you need to accept the Google Privacy Policy. We do not collect Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) about our visitors. No further information regarding our visitors, other than the browser-level information for statistics and analytics purposes.
The SplitCam apps let you connect your accounts on streaming platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Kick) so it can start live broadcasts and show your live chat. When you connect an account, the platform shows you exactly which permissions SplitCam asks for, and you can decline any of them. Using the apps is also subject to our Terms of Use.
If you sign in with Facebook, SplitCam receives your name, profile picture and an app-specific user ID; the list of Facebook Pages you chose to share with SplitCam and an access token for each of them; and an access token for your account. With your permission SplitCam uses them only to:
SplitCam does not read your posts, photos, friends or messages, does not post anything on your behalf except the live video and the replies you type yourself, and does not use Facebook data for advertising.
The SplitCam apps for Android, iOS, Windows and macOS use YouTube API Services to create, manage and end your live broadcasts and to read and post live chat. By using SplitCam's YouTube features you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. How Google handles your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
If you sign in with YouTube in any SplitCam app, SplitCam receives the name and profile picture of your Google account or YouTube channel (and, in SplitCam for Android, your Google account ID); OAuth access and refresh tokens; your YouTube channel ID; the IDs and titles of your live broadcasts and streams (the ones SplitCam creates for you and the ones you choose from your channel) and the schedule and privacy status of the broadcasts; the stream key and ingest URL of your stream; and the live chat messages of your broadcast (author, picture and text). SplitCam uses this data only to:
SplitCam does not sell or rent your YouTube data, does not use it for advertising and does not share it with third parties, except as described in “YouTube: Google API Services User Data Policy” below. The data stays in the app on your device and is not sent to SplitCam servers. Only in the Restream mode your video, the stream key and the broadcast title go through the SplitCam relay server, and only while the broadcast runs; the relay does not store the video or the stream key (see “Where it is stored” below). Live chat messages are kept in memory only while the broadcast runs and are not saved by SplitCam. If you turn on the chat overlay, the messages you see are drawn into the video itself, so they are part of the video that goes to every platform you stream to and of your recording, if you record.
SplitCam for Android 6.10.16 and later checks your YouTube sign-in once a week, when the app starts; if you have revoked its access at Google, SplitCam deletes the channel and the stored data. If you log out of your YouTube account in SplitCam for Android 6.10.16 and later, SplitCam also revokes its access at Google and deletes the stored data at once. In SplitCam for iOS, Windows and macOS, and in earlier versions of SplitCam for Android, remove the YouTube channel or log out in the channel settings of the app, and revoke access at Google yourself. You can revoke access at any time at security.google.com/settings/security/permissions (also available at myaccount.google.com/permissions). The data is kept only in the app's private storage on your device until it is deleted as described here or you remove it yourself.
SplitCam's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
SplitCam asks Google for these permissions: managing your YouTube account (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube) and, when you sign in with SplitCam for Android, the basic Google sign-in information, which is your name, profile picture and account ID (the standard openid and profile permissions). SplitCam for Windows, and SplitCam for Android before 6.10.16, also ask for the email address of your Google account (the email permission); SplitCam does not use it for any feature. SplitCam uses the data it receives from Google only for the YouTube features listed above.
SplitCam does not sell this data, does not use it for advertising and does not transfer it to anyone else, except when you ask for a feature that needs it (for example, when you turn on the chat overlay), when it is needed for security (for example, to investigate abuse), or when the law requires it. No one at SplitCam reads this data, except when you have clearly agreed to it beforehand, when it is needed for security (for example, to investigate abuse), or when the law requires it.
Account names, pictures, channel and stream details (such as IDs, titles and stream keys) and access and refresh tokens are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. They are not sent to SplitCam servers and are not included in cloud backups. Your video normally goes directly from your device to each platform. Only if you choose the Restream mode and stream to several platforms at once, the video, the stream key and the broadcast title of each destination go through the SplitCam relay server, which forwards the video to the platforms. The relay does not store the stream keys or the addresses of the destinations; they pass through it only while the broadcast runs. The sign-in page splitcam.com/auth only hands the one-time sign-in code back to the app; the code is not stored by SplitCam and cannot be reused.
For YouTube, see “YouTube: how long and how to revoke” above. For Facebook, Twitch and Kick: until you remove the channel in the app, sign out, or uninstall the app. Access tokens also expire, and you can revoke them at any time on the platform side.
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports) and Firebase Analytics (anonymous usage statistics) by Google. They do not receive the data of your YouTube account listed above. For YouTube errors, a crash report contains only the place and code of the error and an error text from which addresses, tokens, keys and email addresses are removed; about YouTube, the statistics record only the platform name (for example “youtube”), the canvas and the length of the broadcast. Crash reports also contain technical information such as the error stack, the device model and the operating system version, and the statistics include the automatic events of Firebase. In SplitCam for Android 6.10.16 and later, the Facebook SDK is used only for sign-in; its automatic event logging and advertising ID collection are turned off.
See Data deletion — how to remove your data from the app and revoke SplitCam's access on each platform.
