Thank you for the suggestion! Technically there's nothing to stop us from adding custom resolutions and frame rates to the program. There might be some issues with the canvas size since it is somewhat fixed at 16:9 aspect ratio. Anyway, we'll consider the possibility of implementing this feature.
Hi. Thank you for taking time to report the issue. I'm sorry it caused you troubles. You shouldn't try to edit the Windows registry manually: to change the SplitCam Virtual Webcam Driver name you have to make several changes in the registry and it is best to use the standard method offered by SplitCam via its settings.
Obviously it doesn't always work either. In your case it is complaining that the required registry path was not found. What SplitCam is looking for is one of the media devices located at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ROOT\MEDIA". There should be several subkeys named "0000", "0001", etc. One of these keys should have a parameter "Service" with the value "splitcam_hd_driver". This the culprit in your case: there are no devices with Service parameter names "splitcam_hd_driver".
See the attached file how this looks on my computer. Please check your registry and look through media devices listed at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ROOT\MEDIA", maybe together we'll be able to locate the cause of the problem.
Thank you for taking time to report the problem. I agree with the sound quality — it's too low in the recorded video. Actually I've already taken care of it and it'll be at normal 192 kbit/sec with the next program release. It was a bug that we've missed during testing.
As for the picture quality let me explain. The compression used during creation of recorded video is adaptive. This means that we don't store more information than is necessary to deliver a high quality output. The bitrate for different sources will not be the same: for completely black screen the bitrate will be minimal and for highly dynamic scenes it might grow very high.
Here are some examples. The first is the information about the video with completely black screen. It has the video bitrate of only 55 kb/sec which is enough to paint every frame black.
The second one is the video created from a static image. The bit bitrate is considerably larger: 3910 kb/s.
And the last one is the recording of a video file. It has the largest bitrate of the three: 6621 kb/s.
Though these files have different bitrate all of them deliver a very high quality picture. Take a look and compare: can you the difference between original image and the one taken from the video file recorded with SplitCam?
The problem with Ctrl-R shortcut has been fixed and will be available to public with the next release of SplitCam. Until then please use Alt-Shift-R key combination which gives the same result: turn recording on or off.
Hi, thank you for taking time to report this issue. The problem is confirmed and is under investigation now. Meanwhile you can use global hotkey Alt-Shift-R to start/stop recording in SplitCam.
The issue of low bitrate during recording is addressed in newer versions of SplitCam. It will become available in public releases after version 10.5.81. To request a prerelease version please contact me by sending a private message or in Skype or Telegram using @smelkov user name.
the error is confirmed. the fix will be available to public with the nearest SplitCam update. the official update is going to be released in the next few days.
