It's been a productive year full of creative ideas and new exciting features
designed to deliver the supreme user experience. Here are the essentials.
Audience growth
The number of SplitCam users has increased by 2.6 times: from 35K to 90K
monthly unique users compared to the last year. We received a whopping amount of positive feedback
from our users. Many of them claim that SplitCam is so much easier and intuitive to use than any
other live streaming software.
New features
Almost 200 new features were added to SplitCam this year. The most notable of
them are the following.
Background effects
Color Pop
Background Remove
Background Blur
This is an impressive set of effects focusing viewer’s attention on the
subject. It also can be used to replace background with a new one or to make a live collage by
combining layers with different input sources.
More effects
In total we’ve added 17 new effects: frames, transitions, lookup tables,
masking effects and, of course, the most popular among models — skin smoother.
Playlists
The long awaited audio playlist is finally available. Now streams can be
accompanied by music. Users are able to edit playlist, reorder, shuffle, repeat, etc.
The same functionality is also available for video playlists.
Native languages
SplitCam’s user interface has been localised in many native languages:
Croatian, Ukrainian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Romanian.
Rich set of capture sources
More capture sources and new file formats support included. 4K videos at
60 fps can now be played back. When capturing screen users can use multiple monitors and can select
screen region or individual application windows. Video games can be captured with support up to
DirectX 12.
SplitCam virtual devices
SplitCam comes with two virtual devices: virtual webcam and virtual
microphone. It’s easy to use SplitCam as an input audio or video source in third party’s
applications or in web browsers.
Plugins support
The rich SplitCam functionality can be expanded with plugins. The plugins
API is publicly available and documented and can be used by any individual or corporate developers
to write their own capture sources to be used inside SplitCam.
Lovense company was the first independent company we partnered with in
adding their software support to SplitCam using plugins API.
Friendly features
SplitCam has a growing amount of user friendly features like working with
source layers, zooming, panning, navigation and control bars. It even includes an almost full
featured web browser source which is easy to add, set up and use on the scene.
Updates
SplitCam received over 330 updates to its existing or newly added features
during this year. We always stay tuned to users’ opinions and requests and do our best to respond
to their needs by developing the most wished for features and functionality.
We are also constantly working on optimising existing code to meet the
hardware and software requirements of the ever growing family of our loyal end users.
Bug fixes
No software is free of errors. The most important thing is how quickly we
react to found errors or flaws. This year we released over 340 bug fixes and had to rush urgent hot
fix releases a couple of times. Thanks to our support policy users are very content and impressed
with the quality of our thorough and careful support work.
Future plans
We have quite a lot of plans for the year 2022. Some of them are very daring
and challenging and require research and studies. These include advanced voice filters and
models’ look enhancements. Also important tasks are in providing greatest user experience when
working with SplitCam program. With the large set of features we have to be very careful to keep
SplitCam as intuitive to use as possible. To help our users to cope with most complicated settings
or problems we are planning to add a system of info tips and suggestions that would help them on
their way.
As SplitCam is primarily a streaming application we devote much of our developing and testing efforts to providing stable, reliable streaming services with high video quality. To achieve this we are going to release a new implementation of streamer with a more manageable and robust code using the latest ffmpeg API.
The tip notifications in their current implementation didn't get much response from users though it is an important part of their every day work. During next year we'll give it another shot by reworking the user interface and adding clear and intuitive settings.
